Support for Parents

Food / hygiene bank

Medway Foodbank is part of a network of 428 food banks working to tackle poverty and hunger in the local area and across the UK.

For us to provide the most appropriate help for your situation and circumstance, we will work with local agencies. If they feel that you are struggling to put food on the table, they will issue you with a foodbank voucher.

Email: info@medway.foodbank.org.uk
Phone: 01634 757057

Please feel free to contact Charly Small or Lucy Wells who are happy to go through the process and are able to provide food bank vouchers directly to you.

We are partnered with Medway Hygiene Bank and able to provide items for personal hygiene for anyone in your household, as well as products to keep your home clean. Please email your child’s college if you require such assistance and we will be in touch. This service is not means tested.

senior leadership drop-in clinic

These sessions are held once a module, normally from 4.30-6pm. They provide an opportunity for parents to meet with a senior leader and discuss their child’s individual progress and any help or support their child is receiving. Parents do not need to book an appointment.

parent forum

The Parent Forum is held every other module to enable parents to discuss key policies and routines in the Academy. The Agenda is shared three weeks before the meeting, and parents are able to add any items they would like raised up until the Friday before the meeting.

paula johnson workshop

  • Self-Harm Workshops for Parents (termly)
  • Anxiety Workshops for Parents

Paula Johnson, our Academy Counsellor and Mental Health Lead, runs workshops for parents throughout the year.  The informal workshops are opportunities to meet other parents who might be going through similar experiences.  You will learn about the difficulties and how they can impact on daily life, for your child and the family.  You will leave with information about how to support your child with strategies and information about the support we can offer in school and external agencies.

NELFT NHS Foundation Trust

The intervention is a combination of weekly calls with Medway’s NELFT service and online guidance. They aim to help parents/carers guide their young person to begin to feel braver and happier in overcoming their worry or fear using the OSI techniques.  For parents/carers to access this offer, parents are required to email Medway NELFT to let them know they are interested and have read the information on their website.

Parent Counselling

We are very fortunate to have some counsellors-in-training joining the Counselling Team at the Academy. These Counsellors are completing their final year to quality as a Counsellor, they have passed their ‘fit to practise’ exam and will be joining us for their work placement. They will be supported and supervised throughout their time with us and their work is private and confidential, and adheres to the BACP (British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy) Code of Ethics.

With these valuable additions to the Team, I am pleased to be able to offer 1-1 counselling for our parents. If you are interested, or have any questions, please email Paula Johnson at counsellor@hundredofhooacademy.org.uk.
