Appointment of a new Primary Principal

Dear parents/carers

Miss Sally Brading has led the primary phase of The Hundred of Hoo Academy since its inception. Her leadership has been exceptional and was judged outstanding by Ofsted at the last inspection. Over that time, she has created a magnificent primary academy for Hoo pupils and families.

Miss Brading has now been promoted to a new position in Leigh Academies Trust (LAT) as Principal of Langley Park Primary Academy in Maidstone, a larger school with sixty pupils per year group. I know it will be very hard for her to leave Hoo as she has invested so much time and energy in creating a school in which the whole community can take immense pride.

That said, I am delighted to confirm that LAT has moved swiftly to appoint a new Primary Principal to continue Miss Brading’s strong legacy and secure a bright future for the academy. From 21st June Mr Mike Etheridge will take over as Primary Principal and continue the excellent work already underway.

Mr Etheridge is a very experienced and highly effective Vice Principal in another LAT academy where leadership was judged to be outstanding at its last inspection. He is a very strong successor to Miss Brading and is determined to continue providing the best quality education possible for pupils and families in the local Hoo community.

Mr Etheridge is keen to write to you soon to introduce himself and set out his ideas for the future. His induction will begin straight away to ensure a strong start supported by Miss Brading prior to taking up her new role within LAT later in June.

Can I take this opportunity to thank you for all of your support for the academy through what has been the most extraordinary year or so. As we emerge from the pandemic I could not be more hopeful for the future for Hoo Primary children; we will carry on working hard to ensure they receive the best education.

Yours faithfully,

Simon Beamish | Chief Executive
