World Book Day 2025

Staff dressed up as World Book Day characters

At The Hundred of Hoo Academy, World Book Day is always a highly-anticipated event, with departments and college teams dressing as the characters in their favourite stories, and students applying their love of reading to work out who is playing which character.  This year, our celebrations are bigger than ever, with the launching of our inaugural three-day Literary Festival.  Students have so far enjoyed the creativity of poetry workshops with visiting Children’s Laureates, have created  literary baubles, become very competitive when competing in our Reading Orienteering challenge, and today we have inspirational creative writing workshops. We have a book fayre running throughout, and students have been recommending their favourite reads to one another and to staff.

Tomorrow, we look forward to our Literary-themed careers fayre, along with a talk from children’s author, Dan Freedman (author of the Jamie Johnson series).
