Post-16 Summer Results 2024
Huge congratulations are extended to the Hundred of Hoo Year 13 class of 2024 cohort. As has been well documented, their journey through GCSE and A level studies was not without interruption. This group of young people have shown tremendous commitment and resilience to make it through to today with such incredible success.
The results achieved today are the product of strong relationships that exist between pupils and staff, as well as parents and carers in the community of the Hundred of Hoo Academy. Only by working together in our pursuit of excellence to transform the life chances of our young people, have we been able to sustain year on year improvement in results. We offer enormous thanks to all who have contributed to our shared success.
Overall, our results this year show that the average A level grade achieved by pupils was an impressive C. The Applied General average grade was a Merit.
We are incredibly proud to report that all pupils are able to progress to the next steps of their education, or to employment. We look forward to hearing how the successes of our Hoo alumni continue in the future.
Amongst the impressive achievements across the year group, there are some stand-out individual successes to be celebrated. These include:
- Lois: A*in criminology, and B in both film studies and media studies. She goes on to study at the University of Surrey;
- Darcy: AAB grades in history, film studies and English, respectively. Darcy continues her study of history at the Queen Mary University;
- Tegan: A in criminology, B in sociology and D in psychology and will continue her studies at Canterbury Christ Church University;
- Ola: Merit in business and grades B, C in criminology and sociology respectively. Ola continues to De Montfort University to study finance and investment;
- Harry: B in criminology, C in history and a Merit in business studies. He continues on to study business management; and
- Lauren: 3 grade Bs across the disciplines of English, history and film studies.
Of particular note has been the exceptional progress and attainment of Volo. Volo joined us from Ukraine in September 2022. He is an inspirational individual, who has balanced developing his spoken English, with his A level studies, and even writing a book! Volo attained a Distinction in sport, a B in film studies and a D in English literature. Volo goes on to study business and management. We wish him every success, and cannot wait to see his novel in print!
Carl Guerin-Hassett, Principal, stated:
“Our students have shown the greatest determination, resilience and perseverance during their courses and achieved some extremely strong results. The well-deserved results now enable our students the choice and opportunity to progress onto the next stage of their education or career choice. We also take this moment to recognise the progress that our pupils have made as they have progressed into well-rounded citizens ready for the 21st century. This success has been achieved not only through the dedication of our students but also by all who are part of the academy community.”
