Huge congratulations are extended to the Hundred of Hoo 2021 cohort of Year 13 pupils!
In the face of extreme adversity, once again, our pupils have demonstrated resilience, strength of character and the determination to succeed that epitomises the values we instil in our Hoo pupils.
Today, we can agree with Gavin Williamson who last week said: “Frankly, if there had been an Olympic medal for grit, our students would all have won gold”.
The results achieved today are the product of strong relationships that exist between pupils, all staff, as well as parents and carers in the community of the Hundred of Hoo Academy. Only by working together in our pursuit of excellence to transform the life chances of our young people, have we been able to sustain year on year improvement in results. We offer enormous thanks to all who have contributed to our shared success.
At Hoo, we continue to offer a very broad and balanced post-16 curriculum. In addition to a full range of A-Levels, we also offer a number of Applied General (vocational) courses across many disciplines. This ensures that we are able to offer all pupils the opportunity to combine their subjects of choice.
Overall, our results this year show that the average A-Level grade achieved by pupils was an impressive C+. The Applied General average grade was a Distinction.
A third of our entire cohort completed A-Levels only, with the average grade attained across their best three being a B. This represents a significant achievement for individual pupils, as well as for the Academy as a whole.
We are incredibly proud to report that all pupils are able to progress to the next steps of their education, or to employment. We look forward to hearing how the successes of our Hoo alumni continue in the future.
Amongst the impressive achievements across the year group, there are some stand-out individual successes to be celebrated. These include:
- Kira-May who achieved the highest possible grade, A* in History A-level, alongside an AB in Government and Politics and Sociology respectively. Kira-May will be studying at the University of Liverpool from next year.
- Emily achieved Distinction* in Public Services and Double Distinction in Health and Social Care, as well as grade B in her Extended Project. She also managed to find time to contribute to the organising of an end of year event for the class of 2021. Given the changing guidance and restrictions in place this was no mean feat. It was wonderful to see pupils enjoying a rite of passage at the end of their studies. Well done and thank you, Emily!
- Faith is celebrating an outstanding ABB in Psychology, English Literature and Sociology. She will also be embarking on further education at the University of Liverpool.
- Evie achieved the highest possible Double Distinction* in Health and Social Care, which she combined with a grade B in Sociology. Evie is spending the Summer working whilst deciding her next steps. With great results, she has many options to choose from.
- Anya achieved AAA in her study of English Literature, Film Studies and Media Studies. Anya will be studying Law.
- Samuel is celebrating AA Distinction in History, Government and Politics and Business Studies respectively.
- Oliver who is thrilled to have accomplished AAB in History, Maths and Psychology in addition to Merit in Applied Science is going to study at the University of Kent.
- Millie achieved an ABB in Photography, Film Studies and Media Studies.
- Robert achieved ABB in History, Media Studies and Sociology respectively.
- Naomi combined studies in Public Services and Sport achieving Distinction* and Distinction, with A-Levels in Film Studies and Photography being awarded BB.
- Harry combined studies of A-Level Film Studies and History achieving B,C with Public Services and Business achieving Distinction* and Distinction.
- Hannah is celebrating AC in Psychology and Sociology, with Distinction*, Merit in Health and Social Care and Applied Science qualifications.
- Zoe achieved ABB in Government and Politics, History and Sociology.
- Ana is celebrating achieving Distinction*Distinction in Health and Social Care along with B grade for Psychology. Such was Ana’s commitment to her study, Ana completed an A-Level in Portuguese in her own time, achieving an A grade.

Once again our young people have had to face challenges like no other this year, and they have faced these uncertainties with resilience and determination. We are very proud of each and every one of our students and wish them the very best for their future.’
