Year 7 see ' Matilda'

The first week back after the Easter holidays saw a treat for 40 of our KS3 pupils as they headed up to London to see the musical, Matilda.

Based on the beloved Roald Dahl novel, with a script by Dennis Kelly and composed by the inimitable Tim Minchin, it tells the story of a young girl who is different from other children her age, and not appreciated by her uncultured family.

After an uneventful journey we were delighted to take our seats in the stalls, some of us just a few metres a way from the stage! The pupils were enthralled, and loved being in the centre of the action. We were regularly surrounded by the cast, including the terrifying Miss Trunchbull, and even had Amanda Thripp almost land in her lap. Add in Miss Alcindor being taunted as a bookworm by Mr Wormwood, and a few souvenirs caught as they flew into the audience, and you have a very successful visit!
