Everybody's Talking About Jamie - Theatre Visit

On Wednesday 7th November Miss Boyns, Mr Carey, Miss Alcindor And Miss Small ventures out in the rain and headed to London to see Everybody’s Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre.

This brand new British Musical tells the story of Jamie New, who faces up to bullies and detractors to be his true self and achieve his ambition of becoming a drag queen. Based on the true story of Jamie Campbell, The Musical has amazing songs by Dan Gillespie-Sells and Tom Macrae; energetic choreography, and plenty to make everyone laugh and cry.

As always the Academy’s pupils (who ranged from Year 9 to Year 12) were impeccably behaved, drawing compliments from other members of the audience. The pupils were enthralled, with some of them exclaiming that it was the best thing they’d ever seen at the theatre! Amelia Cottle said, “I really enjoyed the fact that it celebrates diversity, which ties in so well with anti-bullying week (coming up later in November).” Sean Soper added, “the most important message I took away was that every person should be themself.”
