Early Years Foundation Stage

There are seven areas within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) which are used to plan your child’s learning and activities. These will be tailored by the Academy to suit the unique needs of each pupil and can be adapted to suit their individual tastes.

The EYFS frame work is broken down into 7 areas of learning and development.

Children should initially develop in 3 prime areas;

  • Communication and language
  • Physical development
  • Personal, social and emotional development

These prime areas are the most essential in assisting your child’s healthy development and future learning.

As the children grow, the prime areas will help their skills develop in 4 specific areas:

  • Literacy
  • Mathematics
  • Understanding the World
  • Expressive arts and design

Every time your child achieves something new it is recorded in their Learning Journey. We use the Tapestry online system to record achievements, comments they have made and photographs, as well as examples of work.

Your child will also have a Home Academy Link Book which will allow you and your child’s teacher to communicate regularly. Please check this every evening for ideas on next steps to try with your child with the family and record anything new that your child has achieved at home.

We hold regular parent workshops to share information with you about our curriculum and how you can help at home. We will provide information about these throughout the term.
